The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC) is the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. The LLSC mission; Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

 

The strategy to achieve the mission is based on three areas of focus: research, patient support and advocacy. In 2014, they invested more than $7.2 million in programs, services, and support to improve the lives of Canadians affected by blood cancers. This investment included over $2.1 million in innovative, life-changing research to accelerate new cancer treatments, therapies, and cures; close to $1.7 million in support for individuals confronted with a devastating cancer diagnosis; and more than $3.3 million for advocacy work and to educate patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals and the general public about the impacts of blood cancers. They do not charge patients, caregivers or healthcare professionals anything for any of the programs or materials provided to them

Proceeds raised at Battle for Blood will be used to support the following Charities:

The Humber Student Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance for students to continue their learning. Humber College offers four types of scholarships including academic scholarships, entrance scholarships, academic based scholarships, and degree based scholarships. Annually, Humber College provides over 1000 students with scholarship to fund their academics.
